Multiple Readout Modes is a new function for newer QHY Cameras.  Different readout modes have different driver timing, etc., and result in different performance.  Each readout mode has its advantage and disadvantages.  The QHY600 currently has three readout modes.  In the future QHYCCD may add more modes. These readout modes are currently supported in the QHY ASCOM Camera Driver, SharpCAP software and the N.I.N.A software. You can find the readout list box in the software.

If used with the QHY filter wheel, the actual calculated intercept is 12.5mm. The actual BFL (the intercept from the CMOS chip to the top of the camera) is 14.5mm. Note 14.5mm rear intercept does not include adapter thread, which must be used with adapters of various sizes through the top 6 screw holes.

Notice:

*Different Top Design, CAA and  BFL

QHY268M and 268C have different tops. The BFL of QHY268C: 17.5mm without CAA. If CAA is used, it increases by 6mm (23.5mm total). The BFL  Consumed of QHY268M (when connected with CFW) is 12.5mm (with CAA) . The actual BFL (the intercept from the CMOS chip to the top of the camera) is 14.5mm, however, Since most uses will match CFW with monochrome cams, please take 12.5mm as your major reference. Check the mechanical drawing below for details.

*Extended Fullwell Mode

Just like QHY600, QHY268M/C has Extended Fullwell Mode, too. While applying this mode, fullwell will rise from 51e- to more than 75ke-. With larger fullwell we can get more details without overexposure!

*2CMS Mode: New function added

With correlated multiple sampling, readout noise can be better decreased. As we all know, because of the unevitable deviation, we’ll get some “wrong” data, which is called “noise”. Multiple sampling can control such noise efficiently.
Since dynamic range is the ratio of fullwell and readout noise, this mode can effectly raise the dynamic range under Extended Fullwell Mode (as the yellow curve shows in the pic).

*Humidity Sensor: New Hardware added (IN 268M ONLY) 
QHY268M has a humidity detector inside the camera body (while 268C has not). It’s used for recording the relative humidity (RH) inside the camera in order to help you decide using desiccant or not. So far this RH curve can be shown in EZCAP-QT–Temperature Control.

*Standard Free Adapters and Interface

Both 268M/C can compat with M54 and M48 threads with free adapters provided. We prepared one set of adapters for QHY268M to match 55mm M48 MPCC when connecting CFW3L.

Note: Put OAG at the position next to the M48 Output to make both main cam and guiding cam foused.

So which size of filters can best match 268M?

Well first there’s no doubt that 2 inch filters are large enough to cover the whole sensor area. But they’re not cheap enough either! With a rough estimate, we guess 36mm filter can be matched with scope whose focal ratio is smaller than f/5. However, if your scope has large focal ratio like f/2.8, we suggest you think carefully before using 36mm filters. Anyway, we still need more feedback to get a concrete answer.

For some people might prefer 36mm filters to match QHY268M, we decided to add one 1mm and one 3mm adapter to match QHYCFW3M-US (for 7*36mm filters). As standard accessories, such adapters for 55mm BFL are all for FREE.


Tips:

Do not worry if you don’t use an OAG, in this set of adapters there’s a 10mm adapter. The thickness of OAG is 10mm, too, which means you can use this adapter to replace the OAG’s position(see below). Furthermore, if you’re going to use 268M+CFWMUS+OAG, you can directly use the spare 10mm adapter to replace the 1+3+3+3mm combo.

*Mutiple Readout Modes
New function for new-gen QHY Cameras. Different Readout Mode have different driver timing etc and causes the different performance results. Each readout mode has its advantages. The QHY268M/C is a new generation of back-illuminated CMOS cameras with true 16-bit A/D and 3.76um pixels.  This new Sony sensor is an ideal CMOS sensor exhibiting no amplifer glow. 16-bit A/D gives high resolution sampling of the whole full well range.  Digitizing 0-65535 levels yields a smooth image with continuous gradation of greyscale levels. The QHY268M/C is a cooled, back-illuminated, CMOS camera based on the Sony IMX571 sensor with native 16-bit A/D and 3.76um pixels.

SCENARIO III MEDIUM SIZED CAMERA + CFW+OTHERS
So far QHY600M is the only camera required large sized filter wheel (CFWL). QHY600 is the only monochrome model camera in the medium sized camera category. Like small sized filter wheel (CFWS), the internal adapter of CFWL needs to be removed and replaced with 020002 for screw mounting method. If the QHY600 and CFWL is purchased in a package, the installation works will be performed in our manufacturing facility.
