They aren't even compatible with Meade 8" SCT as advertised

When they didn't fit, I contacted customer service and they said they knew about the issue with some Meades. They send their fix which was two Celestron radius blocks that didn't work either. Don't believe what they say...cost me $20 to find out they are selling radius blocks that don't fit all Meade 8" SCT. Charged me restocking fee and return shipping. Buyer Beware of these folks!

FarpointAstro Radius blocks for Meade 8 inch SCT

I purchased these blocks so I could mount my 8 inch Meade SCT classic (deforked) to a Skywatcher EQR-6 pro. The radius of the blocks were a good match to the radius of the Meade. However, the screw holes on the radius blocks didn’t align with screws holes on the Meade. Using the left screw hole on the block, the right screw was hole about half a screw width off (to wide). There is a center screw hole in the blocks, and using that screw hole with either a left or right screw hole made a solid attachment to the Meade. With the blocks secured to the Meade, I attached my 14 inch Losmandy D plate to the blocks with no problems. From there, to the EQR-6 and everything works fine. I’m happy with the radius blocks, I’d purchased them again from FarpointAstro. A final cosmetic point about the blocks is the company name, FarpointAstro, is upside down.

Didn't quite fit - had to enlarge the holes

I have a Meade LX200GPS from 2002. It must be a little odd sized. In 2006 I bought a Losmandy dovetail with radius blocks. That set included two different blocks. One that fit perfectly and one that only used the center hole. I was hoping the Farpoint blocks would be identical to the longer and perfect Losmandy. Turned out the Farpoints are the same height, but the hole spacing for attachment to the Meade tube is a little short. I made one work easily by slightly enlarging the holes.

Sometimes manufacturer's vary their specs just a bit from run to run. We are aware of a spec variation on this particular scope from Meade. We are glad you were able to make our Dovetail work even though the holes did not match up perfectly. But, if this ever happens to you again on another item (or ... someone reading this is having the same problem), be sure to contact our support team (support@opticalstructures.com) and we can send you a modified version of the part that is having a fit issue.

Screws don’t line up with threaded holes in the telescope.

As the title says screws don’t line up with threaded holes in the telescope. I have left a message as well as email and didn’t get a reply from either one. I had to take it to a machine shop and it cost me another $35 to get it done. There are a number of reviews stating this issue and they are still sending them out. Not happy!

I just saw your review and I felt the need to respond to you personally. First off, our customer service department should have responded to either (or both) your phone message or your email. I know they work hard at getting back to everyone, but sometimes that does not happen. For that, I apologize. Please know that it is our goal to have excellent customer service. Clearly, sometimes we fail in that regard. Second, the issue you complained of is a known issue with the Meade 8” LX200 f/10 SCT. The hole tolerances for that telescope can be vastly difference between manufacturing runs. As you can imagine, engineering an after market accessory for a product that is not consistently made by its manufacturer is a challenge. To solve that, we machined a special version of the radius block with higher slop when hole alignment issues arise. Had you been able to get through to our customer service department, that would have been their response. Since you resolved the issue yourself and it cost you more money, and since we would have sent you the special version of the product, I want to offer a $50 credit towards your next purchase of an item made by Optical Structures Inc. (Farpointastro, Astrodon, Lumicon, JMI). I will ask my customer service team to send you a coupon code that you can use on your next purchase.
