Pair eyepieces, diagonals, and focusers across 1.25", 2", and SCT fittings.
Everything for the eyepiece side of the optical train — 1.25" and 2" eyepiece adapters, SCT couplers, male/female reducers and step-up adapters, parfocal rings, and extension tubes for dialing in back-focus at the eyepiece. Setting up a camera instead? See our Imaging Adapters.
Most eyepiece headaches come down to one part not matching another. These adapters make your eyepieces, diagonals, and focuser work together. Reducers and step-up adapters let a 2" focuser take a 1.25" eyepiece, or a 1.25" focuser take a 2" eyepiece. SCT couplers connect 2" accessories to a Schmidt-Cassegrain rear cell in both directions. Parfocal rings set your eyepieces to focus at the same point so you don’t re-focus on every swap, and extension tubes help you reach focus when a diagonal or accessory falls short.
Fit is everything at the focuser. Listings name the three astronomy barrel standards — 1.25", 2", and the legacy 0.965" — plus the SCT thread (2" × 24 TPI) wherever it applies, so you can match an eyepiece, diagonal, or accessory to your focuser with confidence.
A reducer (or step-down adapter) lets a larger focuser hold a smaller eyepiece — for example a 2" focuser taking a 1.25" eyepiece. A step-up adapter does the reverse, letting a 1.25" focuser hold a 2" eyepiece, though the 1.25" barrel then limits the true field of very wide 2" eyepieces.
It connects 2" visual accessories to a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope’s rear-cell thread (2" × 24 TPI). Depending on direction, that means putting a 2" diagonal or eyepiece holder on the back of an SCT, or putting an SCT-threaded accessory onto a 2" focuser. Standard SCT thread fits most Celestron and Meade scopes; the largest 11" and 14" models use a larger rear-cell thread.
A parfocal ring clamps onto an eyepiece barrel and sets how deep it seats, so all your eyepieces reach focus at the same focuser position. Set them once and you can swap eyepieces during a session without re-focusing. They’re a small convenience that makes a real difference at the eyepiece.
Match the barrel or thread on each side: your focuser or diagonal (1.25", 2", SCT 2"×24 TPI, or 0.965" for vintage gear) and the eyepiece or accessory you’re fitting. Each product page names the relevant standards. If you’re unsure, email support@cxbastro.com with your focuser and eyepiece details and we’ll help you confirm.
Pair these adapters with the imaging side of your kit and the rest of your visual accessories.
