The Farpoint Universal Binocular Mount (UBM) is a professional-grade aluminum parallelogram mount that transforms binocular astronomy from a tiring arm workout into hours of effortless, comfortable observing. With a 12 lb capacity supporting binoculars up to 100mm aperture, the UBM keeps your optics perfectly balanced — the binocular simply floats while you point it anywhere in the sky, from the horizon to the zenith. Made in the USA.
Why a Parallelogram Mount Changes Everything
The parallelogram design lets you raise and lower the eyepiece height through a full 16-inch range (35" collapsed to 51" extended) without losing your target. Point at a galaxy, then slide the mount up or down so everyone in your group can look — adults, kids, wheelchair users — all without re-aiming. Every axis stays in perfect balance, so there's no fighting gravity or tightening clamps. The binoculars simply stay where you put them.
The Last Parallelogram Mount Standing
The binocular mount market has changed dramatically. The Orion Monster and Orion Paragon Plus — once the most popular parallelogram mounts in the hobby — are permanently discontinued after Orion went out of business. The remaining alternatives are the Oberwerk PM2 at $780 and European imports at $870+. The Farpoint UBM delivers the same 12 lb capacity as the Oberwerk at $499 — nearly $300 less — with a full ecosystem of configurable accessories.

Who Uses the Farpoint UBM
-
Astronomy binocular enthusiasts — from 50mm to 100mm aperture, the UBM handles it all. A fixture at star parties from the Texas Star Party to the Winter Star Party in the Florida Keys, the Oregon Star Party, and dark sky gatherings across the Appalachians
-
Astronomy clubs and outreach programs — the parallelogram's height adjustment makes it perfect for public star parties where dozens of people need to look through the same binoculars. Popular at astronomy club events across the country
-
Nature observers and birders — the same effortless balance that works for stargazing makes extended daytime viewing comfortable for birding, wildlife observation, and scenic viewing
-
Observers with accessibility needs — the wide height range accommodates seated observers and wheelchair users, making astronomy accessible to everyone
Note: The UBM does not include a tripod. Use any standard photo tripod without a pan head with a 3/8-16 screw, or use our M10 mounting post for telescope tripods with M10 threads.
