Small Aperture Solar Filter Line — Coming Soon

Coming Soon. The Farpoint small-aperture solar filter line is in active design and not yet available for purchase. Sign up below to be notified when it ships.

Our current SSF Solar Filter line covers telescope tube outer diameters from 120 mm to 397 mm. If you arrived here from our Solar Filter Finder, your telescope’s tube is smaller than 120 mm — below our smallest current SKU (SSF-125, which fits 120–125 mm). A dedicated small-aperture line is in development to extend full ISO 12312-2 certified solar viewing to the smaller end of the catalog.

Who This Line Is For

The small-aperture line will serve telescopes and accessory optics with tube outer diameters under 120 mm. That covers:

  • Finder scopes — 50 mm and 60 mm finders mounted on larger telescopes, which need their own solar filter for safe alignment when the main scope is filtered
  • Guide scopes — small refractors used for autoguiding, typically 50–72 mm aperture, which need their own filter if the main rig is pointed at the sun
  • Small-aperture refractors — travel scopes, beginner refractors, and dedicated small-aperture astrographs from 50 mm to roughly 100 mm aperture
  • Camera lenses with front-element outer diameters in the same range, for solar photography with mirrorless or DSLR cameras

What It Will Use

Same materials and same safety standard as the current SSF line:

  • ISO 12312-2 certified silver-coated polymer solar film
  • Laser-cut ABS plastic mounting ring
  • Ultra-adhesive hook-and-loop straps for secure, removable mounting

The fit window and SKU naming convention will follow the same pattern as the current SSF line, scaled down for the smaller tube range. Final SKU breakpoints, pricing, and ship date will be announced when the line is ready.

In the Meantime

If your main telescope is in the 120 mm to 397 mm tube OD range, our current SSF line has you covered there. Many small-scope owners use a larger telescope for primary observation and only need the small-aperture filter for the finder mounted on that scope. The current SSF line is available now:
