Long Perng ED 85mm, f/6.6, F560mm, Triplet refractor
Perfect All-Rounder - Long Perng ED 85mm, f/6.6, F560mm, Triplet refractor
Featuring two ED glass elements for remarkable true-color performance, the Long Perng Triplet Apo Refractor is an absolutely perfect centerpiece of any star-hunters arsenal. A quality import from Taiwan that has been tested and approved by Farpoint. Many leading "USA manufacturers" have rebranded it as their own, but we sell it direct without the branding fees.
Unlike most ED triplets which are made with just one ED glass element, this beautifully crafted apochromatic refractor stands above ordinary triplets since it features one element of FPL-53 ED glass and one element of FPL-51 ED glass. With its two fluoro-crown ED glass elements and fully multi-coated optics, the Long Perng 85mm refractor provides superior correction of chromatic and spherical aberrations.
The Long Perng Triplet refractor measures 560mm in focal length with a fast f/6.6 focal ratio which is excellent for wide-field visual and photographic use. Multiple internal baffles prevent off-axis reflections for excellent contrast, while a retractable lens shade helps eliminate glare and dew buildup.
The Long Perng Triplet sports a hybrid-drive 2" rack and pinion focuser which can support imaging gear trains weighing up to 17.6 lbs., and features dual-speed (10:1) controls to easily fine-tune focus. You can rotate the focuser 360-deg to optimize imaging or observing convenience. The focuser permits 60mm of backfocus travel, and has a built-in focus lock knob. A step-down Brass Compressing Ring 1.25 inch adapter is included.
The Long Perng Triplet f/6.6 Triplet Apo Refractor comes with a thread-on objective lens cover and two heavy-duty machined tube rings. An included hard carry case with a custom die-cut foam insert ensures safe transport and convenient storage.

The Long Perng ED 85mm comes with Deluxe Tube Rings, but depending on your setup, you may need a dovetail. Here is more information on our recommended D size (Losmandy compatible) and V size (Vixen Compatible) dovetails.
Farpoint 7 Inch Metric Universal Dovetail Plate, D size, Losmandy Compatible
You must slide the rings around to get the proper distance to mount either the 7" or 10" D size Dovetail Plate. The 7" is a nice fit using the four corner mounting holes on the plate. If you need more length for your application, the 10" plate has center mounting holes as well. the 10" Dovetail Plate will fit using the 2 center mounting holes and the 2 mounting holes on one of the ends. Both the D size Dovetail plates are rock solid on the scope once mounted.
More info on some additional accessories to keep your scope dry between observing sessions:
Farpoint 2 Inch Desiccant Cap
Farpoint 1.25 Inch Desiccant Cap
(Select either the 2" or the 1.25", the 2" holds more desiccant. Put the Desiccant Cap in your focuser when you are not observing)
Farpoint Reusable Dry Pack - 4 Pack
(Spread these around in your case to keep things dry, remember to close your case and/or put the Dry Packs in plastic bags while you observe so the desiccant doesn't get wet)
