This Farpoint FP350 dew shield for 8-inch Celestron and Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes is a precision-sized flexible dew shield. Sized for the 9.14-inch (232 mm) corrector cell shared by both brands, it slips over the front of your OTA in seconds, slows radiative heat loss from the corrector plate, and keeps dew off your optics through the longest observing sessions.
Fits These Telescopes
Tube outer diameter: 8.90″ to 9.38″ (226–238 mm)
- Celestron: C8-XLT, CPC 800 GPS, CPC Deluxe 800 HD, EdgeHD 800 with CGE Bar
- Meade: 8″ LX200 ACF, 8″ LX85 ACF, 8″ LX90 ACF
- Dobsonians and Newtonians: Apertura 8″ Dobsonian, Apertura 8″ f/8 Ritchey-Chrétien Carbon Fiber, Celestron StarSense Explorer 8″ Dob, Sky-Watcher 8″ Classic Dobsonian, Sky-Watcher Quattro 8″ Newtonian OTA, Zhumell Z8 Deluxe Dobsonian
Have a Celestron NexStar 8 SE, Evolution 8, Advanced VX 8, EdgeHD 8 on CGX or CGEM, or 8″ RASA on a side dovetail mount? Those need the notched version — see the FP351 Notched 8″ Dew Shield.
Why You Need a Dew Shield
The corrector plate on a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope radiates heat directly into the cold night sky. Once its surface drops below the ambient dew point, moisture condenses on the optic, blurring your view and ending your observing session. A dew shield extends the tube to create a buffer of still air in front of the corrector, dramatically slowing the rate of heat loss.
The Farpoint flexible dew shield is the simplest and most effective dew prevention tool you can own — no power required, no batteries, no warming straps. Just slip it on and observe.
Built to Last
- ABS polymer construction — durable, UV resistant, virtually indestructible
- Black felt lining — kills stray light reflections, won’t scratch the corrector plate
- Hook-and-loop closure — wraps tightly, removes in seconds, stores flat
- Precision-sized to the casting — not a generic one-size tube
- Proudly made in the USA
