The Farpoint 6 Inch Dovetail Saddle — Takahashi turns a Takahashi EM-style mount into a D-size (Losmandy-style) quick-release system. The included mounting puck assists in attaching the saddle to Takahashi mounts — once it's on, any telescope carrying a D-size dovetail bar clicks into your Takahashi mount and releases just as fast. Machined from sturdy aluminum with a black anodized finish, with a non-marring clamping bar that grips without gouging the dovetail.

Can I still use my Takahashi clamshell?
Yes — add our Takahashi clamshell dovetail plate to the clamshell, and your original Takahashi scope clicks into this saddle like any other D-bar telescope. The combination keeps the clamshell's original functionality while opening the mount to other telescopes.
What does "non-marring" mean?
Instead of a bare screw tip digging into your dovetail, a full clamping bar presses flat against the dovetail face. It grips at least as hard — but leaves no divots or scratches in the anodizing.
