Farpoint Dovetail System · D-Size Saddle

Fourteen inches of grip for long bars and heavy tubes.

The Farpoint 14 Inch Dovetail Saddle clamps D-size (Losmandy-style) dovetail bars to your mount with twice the length of a standard saddle. Machined from sturdy aluminum with a black anodized finish, its non-marring clamping bar spreads the grip across a long stretch of the dovetail — the right choice when you're carrying a long bar or a heavy optical tube.

Why non-marring matters: a bare clamp screw digs divots into your dovetail bar over time. The clamping bar spreads the grip across the dovetail face, so clamping stays smooth and repeatable for years.

Frequently Asked Questions

What dovetail bars does it clamp?

D-size (Losmandy-style) bars — the wider of the two standards. It does not clamp the narrower V-size (Vixen-style) bars; for those, see our V-size saddles. Not sure which you have? The dovetail guide shows how to tell.

What does "non-marring" mean?

Instead of a bare screw tip digging into your dovetail, a full clamping bar presses flat against the dovetail face. It grips at least as hard — but leaves no divots or scratches in the anodizing.

When do I need the 14 inch length?

Go 14″ when you're running long bars or heavier tubes — the extra clamping length spreads the load and adds stability. Upgrading a Vixen-style mount head instead? That's the 7″ saddle's job.
