The JMI Speed Dial Drill Adapter turns leveling your Wheeley Bar from a tedious hand-cranking job into a 30-second cordless-drill task. The adapter fits any standard drill chuck; the business end has claws that grip the knob of your leveling screw and spin it up or down with the drill's torque doing the work. No more bending, no more sore forearm at the end of a long observing session.
This is the 5/8″ version — designed for JMI Wheeley Bars with 5/8″ leveling screws (the current heavy-duty standard on HD Medium, HD Large, and HD Shorty bars). Confirm your leveling screw size before ordering. This adapter works with 5/8″ leveling screws only. Pull one leveling screw out of your bar and measure the thread diameter. 5/8″ is the current HD standard; 1/2″ is the older standard. If you have 1/2″ screws, order the 1/2″ version instead.

How do I know if I have 1/2″ or 5/8″ leveling screws?
Pull one leveling screw out of your Wheeley Bar and measure the thread diameter with calipers or a ruler. 5/8″ is the current HD standard — common on the newest HD Medium, HD Large, and HD Shorty bars. 1/2″ is the older standard — used on the Standard Medium bar and earlier HD model years. Will any cordless drill work?
Yes — the adapter has a standard hex shaft that fits any 3/8″ or larger drill chuck. Cordless or corded, brand doesn't matter. Most observers use whatever cordless drill they already own.
How much time does it actually save?
Roughly 50% or more depending on how high you need to level. Hand-cranking three leveling screws to a typical observing-site height takes most observers 5–10 minutes (and a sore forearm). With the drill adapter, the same three screws are done in 30–60 seconds. Across a season of observing, you'll recover the cost of the adapter in time saved during the first month.
Does it fit Triangle Style or Sky Trekker bars?
No — those are Dobsonian bases with a different leveling-screw design. The Speed Dial Drill Adapter is for Universal-style Wheeley Bars only.
Any concerns about over-torquing the leveling screws?
Use a low torque setting on your drill and stop spinning when the foot makes contact with the ground. The screws are designed to handle the torque, but over-driving them into the ground (or against the bar's stop) can strain the threads over time. Treat the drill like a powered fingertip — it does the work, you control when it stops.
