This kit covers Steps 1–2: Laser → Cheshire. The 650nm laser sets secondary alignment and rough primary; the 1.25" Cheshire delivers the final, precise primary alignment. Step up to a kit with an autocollimator for Step 3 refinement.

Should I get the 1.25" or the 2" kit?
Choose based on your focuser. The 1.25" kit suits 1.25" focusers. If your focuser accepts 2" accessories, the 2" kit includes a 1.25"/2" combo laser and a 2" Cheshire.
Why use both a laser and a Cheshire?
The laser gives accurate secondary alignment and rough primary alignment in seconds; the Cheshire's reflective pane then reveals subtle misalignment the laser can't detect for the final, precise primary alignment. The whole process takes about 5 minutes.
Will this work on my SCT, Maksutov, or refractor?
No. This kit is for Newtonian and Dobsonian reflecting telescopes only. It is not intended for refractors, catadioptric, or SCT designs.
