The Far-sight mounting system is a good match for my big 11x80 Swift Observer binoculars, providing the stability needed with the ease of quick release. I bought an extra mounting nut so I can relatively easily switch between my most-used binoculars. The bare-stainless steel look is attractive and shows off the mechanical, almost sculptural, beauty of the mount. I've only had it for a few weeks, but have used it several times and I really like it. I do have a few questions, though, and had to do a lot more finagling than expected to use the mount.
The connection between the mount and the nut is very tight, to the extent I worry a little about the stress I may be putting on the binoculars by wrenching them in and out of the mount. I will continue to monitor this, and am being careful to use no more force that necessary when mounting and unmounting the equipment.
Also, when I received the mount, it had unpleasantly sharp corners and edges, to the extent it was uncomfortable to touch, and I was concerned about damaging the finish on my binoculars. It took about twenty minutes with a small file and some sandpaper to take the burr off all the edges and get a slightly rounded, silky, unthreatening edge finish to the mount. I don't know why this wasn't done at the factory. A machine shop capable of producing this mount surely has a grinding/polishing machine that would do the job in a couple minutes or less. It's strange that a device so clearly engineered with great care and attention to detail would ship in such an unfinished condition.
Finally, the 1/4x20 receiving nut, used to attach the mount to the tripod, is slightly recessed, such that my tripod bolt was not long enough to reach into the mount and "grab" the receiver nut. Fortunately, I found another bolt that fit both the tripod and the mount, but that was kind of random chance. Without that lucky find, the mount would have been a non-starter, since I'd have been unable to attach it to my tripod. The receiver nut really needs to be flush with the bottom of the mount, not recessed at all.

Once all this additional work was done to achieve usability, I quite like the mount and look forward to years of service from it.
