Heavy-Duty Dob Mover14″–16″ Class
Save your back on setup night. The JMI Sky Trekker 400 rolls 14″ to 16″ class Dobsonian telescopes — particularly the Meade LightBridge 16″ — from indoor storage to your observing site as a single assembled unit. No breaking down the OTA, no awkward staging trips. Four 10″ pneumatic wheels and a tow handle make uneven terrain a non-issue, and the welded steel base accepts any Dobsonian with a 28″ to 32″ ground board.

Telescopes Known to Fit
- Meade LightBridge 16″ Dobsonian
- Orion SkyQuest XX12g GoTo Dobsonian
- Orion SkyQuest XX14g GoTo Dobsonian
- Orion SkyQuest XX14i IntelliScope
- Adaptable to other Dobsonians with 28″ to 32″ diameter ground board
- The feet on your ground board may need to be repositioned to align with the Sky Trekker 400. The heavier the loaded telescope, the more carefully the assembly should be moved — always push or pull below the center of gravity. Don't see your model? How to Measure Your Dob's Ground Board
The ground board is the bottom circular disc your Dobsonian's rocker box rotates on — the part that sits flat on the ground (or on your Wheeley Bar). Measure the outside diameter straight across, foot to opposite foot through the center. If your ground board falls between 28″ and 32″, the Sky Trekker 400 will work; foot positions on the board may need a small adjustment to align with the bar's mounting points.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I measure my ground board diameter?
Measure the outside diameter of your Dobsonian's bottom ground board (the circular base disc the rocker sits on). Measure straight across, foot to opposite foot through the center. The Sky Trekker 400 adapts to ground boards from 28″ to 32″. Some scopes may require relocating one or more feet to align with the bar's mounting points.
Will my Dobsonian fit the Sky Trekker 400?
If your ground board is 28″ to 32″ in diameter, yes. Confirmed fits include the Meade LightBridge 16″, plus the Orion SkyQuest XX12g GoTo, XX14g GoTo, and XX14i IntelliScope. Other 14″–16″ class Dobsonians with ground boards in this range will also work, though foot placement on the board may need a small adjustment. If you're not sure, email
support@cxbastro.com with your ground board diameter and we'll confirm.
Why don't the Sky Trekker bars have wheel options?
The Sky Trekker series ships with 10″ pneumatic all-terrain wheels as standard equipment. The larger wheel size is what makes these bars work under heavier Dobsonian loads — smaller swivel casters wouldn't roll reliably over grass, gravel, or driveway transitions with a 14″–16″ Dob on top, so we don't offer them as a downgrade option.
Will it fit through my doorway?
The Sky Trekker 400 is 33″ wide at the rear wheels. Standard interior residential doorways are 28″–32″, so it likely won't pass through those. Exterior doors (typically 36″) and garage door openings handle it fine. If your storage routes through a 30″ interior doorway, a smaller-class Sky Trekker (300 or 350) would suit better — but those won't carry a 16″ LightBridge.
