The Farpoint Far-Sight is a precision stainless-steel mounting and targeting system for binoculars — the rigid, repeatable answer to the bent-steel "L-bracket" amateur astronomers have been gluing together for decades. A small pin threads into your binocular's standard 1/4-20 tripod socket; the binocular then snaps onto the Far-Sight base in seconds via a precision quick-release. No screws to fumble in the dark, no flex, no slop.
Sky & Telescope Hot Product 2007
The Far-Sight was named a Hot Product for 2007 by Sky & Telescope magazine (January 2007 issue, page 100). Nearly two decades on, it remains the gold-standard quick-release binocular mount adapter in amateur astronomy.

Need a different mounting screw?
The Far-Sight ships with one Standard 1/4-20 screw, which fits the majority of porro-prism binoculars. If you have non-standard threads, want a spare for a second pair of binoculars, or use a Celestron SkyScout, we stock four screw types — browse them in the Far-Sight collection:
- Standard — 1/4-20, fits most porro-prism binoculars.
- Barska — for Barska binoculars with proprietary thread.
- T&T Parallelogram — direct-mount stud for T&T parallelogram arms.
- SkyScout — for the Celestron SkyScout device.
Compatibility
The Far-Sight works with most porro-prism binoculars (and many larger roof-prism models) that have a standard 1/4-20 tripod socket between the objective barrels — typically accessed by unscrewing a cover at the end of the hinge. Binoculars with their tripod socket on the underside of the body (90° from the optical path) mount directly to a tripod or parallelogram and don't need a Far-Sight.
Pair it with the UBM
For serious binocular astronomy, mount your Far-Sight-equipped binoculars on our Farpoint Universal Binocular Mount (UBM) — a precision aluminum parallelogram that holds the view rock-steady and lets you share views at any height. Or use the Far-Sight on any standard photo tripod for casual observing and daylight glassing.
