What is this for?
Wide-field astrophotography without a telescope. The adapter rides on a Farpoint FDUPS D-size dovetail in your equatorial mount's saddle, and the ball head holds your DSLR — the mount tracks the sky while the camera takes long exposures.
Why a ball head instead of a fixed thread?
A fixed thread points the camera wherever the mount points. The ball head lets you frame any part of the sky — or compose at an angle — while the mount keeps tracking on its own axis. Lock the ball, shoot, recompose without touching the mount.
Will it fit my mount?
It rides on a D-size (Losmandy-style) dovetail, so it works with any mount with a D-size saddle. Mount has a small Vixen saddle? Our D-size saddles and conversions upgrade it.
