Battery Pack Holder · Standard 5½″ × 10″ Cradle

Mount your battery pack on the Wheeley Bar frame — keep your power source close to the scope and out of your way.

The JMI Wheeley Bar Battery Pack Holder is a heavy-duty steel cradle that bolts to the frame of your Universal Wheeley Bar. Once installed, your battery pack rides with the bar — no extension cord trailing across the lawn, no tripping hazard, no more "where did I leave the battery?" moments. The cradle has a rimmed edge that holds the pack securely during transport, even over uneven pavement.

This is the standard size — the right choice for most observers and most battery packs. The cradle accommodates packs up to 5½″ × 10″, which covers the vast majority of marine and jump-starter style batteries (Celestron PowerTank 17, Sky-Watcher 17 Ah, Talentcell 12V LiFePO4, and similar). For oversized packs up to 15¾″ × 11¾″, see the Battery Pack Holder XL. Made in the USA by JMI, part of the CXB Astro family.

Need a Larger Holder?

If your battery pack is larger than 5½″ × 10″ — think large marine batteries, dual-cell setups, or full power-distribution boxes — see the Battery Pack Holder XL. It accommodates packs up to 15¾″ × 11¾″, but it only fits the HD Medium and HD Large Wheeley Bars (not the Standard Medium, HD Shorty, or AP Pier Mount).

Frequently Asked Questions

What size battery pack fits this holder?

Battery packs up to 5½″ × 10″. That covers most popular astronomy batteries: Celestron PowerTank Lithium Pro and PowerTank 17, Sky-Watcher 17 Ah, Talentcell 12V LiFePO4, marine jump-starter style packs, and most "shoebox" style power supplies. If your pack is larger than that, look at the XL version.

Which Wheeley Bars does this fit?

The standard Battery Pack Holder is compatible with the Universal-style Wheeley Bar line: Standard Medium, HD Medium, HD Large, and AP Pier Mount. For HD Shorty compatibility, email support@cxbastro.com first. The Triangle Style and Sky Trekker series (Dobsonian platforms) use a different frame and aren't compatible.

How does it install?

The holder bolts directly to the Wheeley Bar frame using the bar's existing hardware — no drilling, no extra fasteners. Most observers complete the install in about 5 minutes the first time. After that the cradle stays on the bar; you just drop your battery pack into place and head out to observe.

Can I mount two holders on one bar?

Yes — many observers do this when they have two battery packs (one for the mount, one for the dew heater) or when they need more capacity than the XL can provide. Both can mount on most HD Medium and HD Large Wheeley Bars. For multi-holder setups, email support@cxbastro.com to confirm placement and clearance with your specific bar configuration.

Does the holder include the battery pack?

No — the holder is sold separately from any battery pack. The product photos show the holder with a battery pack installed for scale, but the battery isn't included. You supply the pack that fits your setup; the holder accommodates anything up to 5½″ × 10″.
