I recently installed a JMI EV2-n on a Meade SN-10 OTA. After lots of testing I figured out that I needed an extra inch to reach focus for visual. I first found the Lumicon 2” drop in 1” extension and it was just what I wanted, with the compression ring to keep from marring my gear. Then I noticed the 1.5” extension version for just a few dollars more. I figured an extra bit of length never hurts, so I ordered it straight away.
Now, it’s my fault that I didn’t look at the pictures to notice the 1.5” extension, though identical in every other way, does not have a compression ring. It’s ridiculous, but lesson learned.
However, the locking screws look like they were first dropped in a food processor and then installed. The part works, in that it does what it is supposed to, but I will not be using it unless my life somehow comes to depend on it.
