Cut Wheeley Bar setup time by 50%+ — spin your leveling screws up and down with a cordless drill.
The JMI Speed Dial Drill Adapter turns leveling your Wheeley Bar from a tedious hand-cranking job into a 30-second cordless-drill task. The adapter fits any standard drill chuck; the business end has claws that grip the knob of your leveling screw and spin it up or down with the drill's torque doing the work. No more bending, no more sore forearm at the end of a long observing session.
This is the 1/2″ version — designed for JMI Wheeley Bars with 1/2″ leveling screws (the older standard, used on Standard Medium bars and earlier HD Medium / HD Large model years). For the current HD lineup with 5/8″ leveling screws, see the 5/8″ Speed Dial Drill Adapter. Made in the USA by JMI, part of the CXB Astro family.

5/8″ Leveling Screws Instead?
If your Wheeley Bar uses 5/8″ leveling screws — current HD Medium, HD Large, or HD Shorty — order the 5/8″ Speed Dial Drill Adapter instead. Same price ($47.30), same time-saving design, sized for the larger heavy-duty thread.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I have 1/2″ or 5/8″ leveling screws?
Pull one leveling screw out of your Wheeley Bar and measure the thread diameter with calipers or a ruler. 1/2″ is the older standard — used on the Standard Medium bar and earlier HD model years. 5/8″ is the current HD standard — common on newer HD Medium, HD Large, and HD Shorty bars. If still unsure, email support@cxbastro.com with a photo and we'll confirm.
I have an HD Medium / HD Large — does this fit?
It depends on the model year. Older HD Medium and HD Large bars (pre-5/8″ upgrade) used 1/2″ leveling screws and need this adapter. Current production HD Medium / HD Large bars use 5/8″ screws and need the 5/8″ version. The fastest way to tell: pull one leveling screw out and measure.
Will any cordless drill work?
Yes — the adapter has a standard hex shaft that fits any 3/8″ or larger drill chuck. Cordless or corded, brand doesn't matter.
How much time does it actually save?
Roughly 50% or more depending on how high you need to level. Hand-cranking three leveling screws to a typical observing-site height takes most observers 5–10 minutes. With the drill adapter, the same three screws are done in 30–60 seconds. Across a season of observing, the adapter pays for itself in time saved during the first month.
Does it fit Triangle Style or Sky Trekker bars?
No — those are Dobsonian bases with a different leveling-screw design. The Speed Dial Drill Adapter is for Universal-style Wheeley Bars only.
