I had purchased two other dovetail rails that were advertised as fitting a Meade 8" SCT but neither one had holes in the right position to attach to the OTA. This one, at a premium over the other two, finally fit. Installation was as simple as removing two screws and bolting the new rail in place with the provided hardware.

This company has good stuff - I've ordered from them a few years ago. Trying to get a dovetail plate has been a nightmare though. They charge extra for "priority shipping" but basically they just use a third party to take it to the post office. Good luck after that! I called after ten days when the tracking showed it hadn't made it more than 40 miles from Farpoint. At present, weeks later, I still haven't received my dovetail plate, the tracking says I have received it, it also says they've failed to deliver it and email to Farpoint Astro has gone unanswered. Maybe they do a better job in the US but I won't touch them again from here in Canada.

The supports are a little tight. I think it's because it's an old meade OTA. However it is 100% functional. Upgrade to the original dovetail. Is too short for a good balance.

This rail is solidly built and connected to my Meade 8 SCT perfectly with the provided screws. Its heavy but its solid.
