Replacement Leveling Screws · 1/2″ · Pack of 3

Direct replacement leveling screws for JMI Wheeley Bars that use 1/2″ leveling screws — lost one, bent one, or want spares.

The JMI 1/2″ Replacement Leveling Screws are factory-spec replacements for the leveling screws on your Wheeley Bar. Each screw is 1/2″ diameter and 10″ long, with the same knurled knob and threaded shaft as the originals. Use them to replace a screw you've lost during transport, a screw you've bent on a curb or rock, or to keep a spare set in your gear case for the inevitable.

This is the 1/2″ version — for JMI Wheeley Bars that currently use 1/2″ leveling screws. That's the Standard Medium Wheeley Bar and older HD Medium / HD Large model years from before the 5/8″ leveling-screw upgrade. For current HD bars with 5/8″ screws, see the 5/8″ Replacement Leveling Screws. Made in the USA by JMI, part of the CXB Astro family.

This is a replacement, not an upgrade. Replacement screws match what's already in your bar's threaded mount points. They do not convert a 5/8″ bar to use 1/2″ screws, and they don't upsize a 1/2″ bar to 5/8″. Pick the size that matches what's currently in your bar.

1/2″ thread diameter · 10″ total length
Why three?
A Universal-style Wheeley Bar uses 3 leveling screws (one per leg). The pack of three matches the bar's full complement — keep a complete spare set, or replace all three at once if they've all aged out
Designed for
JMI Wheeley Bars currently using 1/2″ leveling screws — Standard Medium, older HD Medium / HD Large model years
NOT compatible with
Wheeley Bars with 5/8″ leveling screws (current HD lineup — see 5/8″ Replacement) · Triangle Style (see Triangle Leveling Kit) · Sky Trekker

Match the Size First

Pull one leveling screw out of your Wheeley Bar and measure the thread diameter with calipers or a ruler before ordering. 1/2″ is the older standard — Standard Medium bars and earlier HD Medium / HD Large model years. 5/8″ is the current HD standard — newer HD Medium, HD Large, and HD Shorty bars. Mismatching sizes won't damage anything, but the wrong size won't thread into your bar's mount points.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my Wheeley Bar uses 1/2″ or 5/8″ leveling screws?

Pull one leveling screw out of your bar and measure the thread diameter with calipers or a ruler. 1/2″ is the older standard. 5/8″ is the current HD standard. If unsure, email support@cxbastro.com with a photo of your bar.

Can I use these to upgrade my Wheeley Bar from 1/2″ to 5/8″ screws?

No — these are direct replacements only. They thread into the bar's existing 1/2″ mount points. Upgrading from 1/2″ to 5/8″ requires a different threaded mount on the bar's frame, which isn't field-serviceable. If you'd like the 5/8″ capability, contact support@cxbastro.com to discuss whether your specific bar can be retrofitted.

Do I need to replace all three at once?

Not strictly — you can mix old and new as long as they're all 1/2″ size. But many observers prefer to replace all three at the same time when one fails, so the bar's leveling characteristics stay consistent across all three legs. The pack of three accommodates either approach.

Does this fit the Triangle Style Wheeley Bar?

No — the Triangle Style uses different leveling-screw mounting hardware. For the Triangle Style, see the Triangle Style Leveling Screws & Hardware Upgrade Kit, which includes screws plus the mounting hardware needed to install them.

Keep a spare set in your gear case.

Replacement screws are cheap insurance against a lost or bent screw at a remote observing site.
